Andréa Rascón-Thorpe, LCSW (She/Her)
Andrea believes in helping people heal and learn how to help themselves through a holistic approach that takes all aspects of the person and their environment into consideration. She strives to create a nonjudgmental space in which to explore the cause of her client's stress and work together -sorting through past experiences, current stressors, and/or future worries- to help her clients create their best selves, regardless of what life may throw at them.
Treatment Approaches:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Attachment, and Experiential approaches. Andrea is an EMDR practitioner.
Career Path:
Andrea is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from UNM and her Master’s of Social Work from NMSU. Andrea has worked with a wide range of populations from toddlers to geriatric clients. She has worked as a social service director of a nursing home, a substance abuse therapist with juvenile offenders, a school social worker at various schools in NM, a Crisis Prevention and Intervention trainer for NM Charter Schools, and currently a clinician in private practice with APP.
Populations:
Although clients of any age are welcome, she especially enjoys working with teenagers, young adults, and parents. Andréa specializes in working with people looking for relief from: trauma, depression, anxiety or those just looking for guidance with their current life difficulties. She also provides services and support for all LGBTQIA people.
Personal Interests:
In her spare time, Andrea loves to be with her blended family playing and having fun. She enjoys doing anything outdoors but also has a deep love for performing arts and is willing to incorporate music/acting/dancing/art or any other creative outlet to the healing process.
